WHAT IS ACROGYM?

BEGINNER- ADVANCE (+5)

Acrogym is the most beautiful and entertaining sport of all the
Gymnastics disciplines. Acrogym is the abbreviation for Acrogymnastics
and describes perfectly how the various gymnastics disciplines are
combined into one, while performing it with a duet partner or trio
partners. These disciplines include acrobatics, tumbling, gymnastics,
partner balancing and dynamic movements all combined by a
performance on music. Acrogym is affiliated with(SAGF) and Northern
Gauteng colours are awarded once the minimum criteria is met.

CLASSES

Development group:

Gauteng North has created a unique development program which
consists of 3 levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold. These are specifically formulated
to provide exposure to the sport, and provide the development of body
strength, flexibility, coordination, movement and partnering. These classes
is 40 min per week and the gymnasts will also compete in Development
competitions. Time of classes; Thursday’s 16:00 – 16:40
Junior group:
Gymnasts in this group already has been exposed to tumbling, dance,
gymnastics or acrobatics. These gymnasts usually perform in level 4 – 6
and will be partnered with two groups to develop their skills. Class options
are as follows:
Time of classes: Tuesdays and Thursday between 16:40 & 18:00 (Times
may vary as soon as groups has been compiled
Gymnasts competing in Level 5 – 6 can qualify for Northern Gauteng
colours, if the minimum criteria is met.
Senior group
These gymnast will compete in Level 7 upwards. These gymnast must be
part of either a gymnastics, tumbling, acrobatics or dance group with
Chanic, or a different dance studio or club. Time of classes: Compulsory
Tuesday and Thursdays, 17:50 – 19:00
1 Saturday per month will be used to practice in a high performance
centre.

Competition dates will be provided in 2024

Junior and senior groups have to compete in two club
competitions in order to qualify and invited to the
Northern Gauteng competitions in August. selected
team will then compete in the Gauteng regional
competition.
